---|---|---|---|---|
2.68/1.42(S3B) | 004 | 06.19 | 09-Jul-2020 | Improvement of the Sea-Ice concentration close to the coastline. New SIC ADF in use. New Marine Land Mask, includes all sea ice extent areas The coastal overlap between MARINE and LAND products has been reduced to 50km (25km each sides of the coastline). The pole tide correction has been updated from Whar[1985]to Desaï [2015] model |

2.68-Marine | 004 | 06.50 | 09-Jul-2020 | Update of the Marine Land Mask (SR_2_MLM_AX version 004) for the generation of the Marine products. There is no change to the coverage of the Marine products over ocean ; the only change is the extension of the coverage from the coastline to land; from 10 km to 25 km Improvement of the Sea-Ice concentration close to the coastline |

Usage Notes for the Cryosphere
General Info
Land ice
- Fixed Sigma0 bias between Baseline Collections 3 and 4 of -18dB. This affects power corrections It is recommnended to use cpom software S3Param:sig0_ice_sheet_20_ku_base3, which corrects the bias so that both baselines can be used together.
- New slope model in PB2.61 has an issue when the track passes close to areas of high slope, giving relocation of > 20km across track in some cases which is beyond the theoretical limit. Will be fixed in next slope model release. Does not affect the majority of the ice sheet which has normal slopes (0..1 degs).
- Current L1 processing is sub-optimal for high slopes and does not re-center waveforms. This results in truncated echoes. A dedicated land ice processing is available that corrects this problems (but currently this is only a test data set of 2 years. New thematic operational products are due in 2021.
Sea Ice
- Current L1 processing does not include Hamming Weighting or Zero Padding
